Where do flights depart from?

Coastal Rotors is based at the Horn Island Airport, in the Torres Strait Islands. We have an air-conditioned vehicle and can provide transfers to and from the Horn Island Airport Terminal or Horn Island Wharf to our hangar.

All prices listed are per person, in Australian dollars (AUD) and inclusive of GST. International credit card charges are AUD equivalent.

What is the maximum passenger weight?

Our Robinson 44 helicopters have a maximum individual weight of 136kgs per seat. Our total available weight varies depending on the selected flight option.

How many people can fit in a helicopter?

We operate Robinson R44’s which can seat 3 adult passengers. Additional details regarding children, infants and babies is provided below.

  • Babies and Infants – aged 0 – 2 years old – may travel free of charge on a parent’s lap. Please note that only one infant may travel per aircraft.
  • Children – aged 3 – 12 years old (inclusive) – can share a seat, as long as their combined weight does not exceed 70kgs

Please note all children and infants travelling on Coastal Rotors must be accompanied by an adult.

Additional information

  • All helicopter pricing is per person. For scenic flights, we require a minimum of 2 guests to operate the service.
  • Payload limits apply. Accurate individual passenger weight is required to confirm booking.
  • The maximum individual seat weight limit is 136kg as per manufacturer guidelines.

Can I take my phone or camera?

Yes, however cameras and phones must have a lanyard/wrist strap and remain inside the helicopter at all times.

What do I need to know before I fly?

Every Coastal Rotors passenger is given a safety brief by the pilot or ground crew. You will be told what you need to know before you depart and before the flight takes off. You must listen and follow the safety instructions of the pilot and ground crew.

Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellation notice provided between 24 and 48 hours.
  • Nil refund for cancellation notice provided under 24 hours.
  • Full refund if cancelled due to weather or operational reasons.
  • Nil refund provided if a passenger is denied boarding due to passenger weights exceeding those quoted at the time of booking resulting in an exceedance of aircraft maximum take-off weight.
  • All flights must be paid in full at time of booking.
